I worked for ThinkGeek for nearly a dozen years. The first six years I was the apparel merchant, curating and creating wearables for a niche market; the last six I served as the head copywriter and managing editor. I crafted copy for more than 5000 unique products for the site.
In addition to product copy, I provided words for newsletters, blog posts, internal promotions, marketing campaigns, special events such as holidays and conventions, SEO, taxonomy, Facebook ads, HR job listings, and the occasional video or social media post. In terms of print, I put together words for catalogs, trade shows, Game Informer ads (the fourth-largest consumer magazine in the United States), product packaging, and in-store signage. I created a Style Guide for employees and freelance writers, maintained the ThinkGeek voice document, and help craft the Brand Guide to keep the company consistent regardless of context.
